Mother and Child

Images of mother and child seem to have attracted the attention of artists from very earliest times, and why not?  The bond between women and their children is never so clear as in these tender early years.  While many struggle to provide, the love between mother and child is a source of wonder, assurance, evocation and awe.  From time to time, I'm drawn to this image as it speaks archtypal relationship, strength and tenderness.

How do we see?  How do we exercise imagination?  What endures, comes through more symbolic vision?  The red thread of life links mother and child.
