Icons: Windows on Heaven
The art of the icon is a very complex one, nearly impossible to separate - in its truest
form - from profound contemplation. It is meant to transport the one who gazes on the icon into the presence of the
divine. Very intimate, this experience of gazing on anything. Of its very nature, it opens one to the experience
and influence of the other. Icons, often depicted in a frame or 'window' of sorts, are meant to draw one in. Much
more about this in the future on this website, but for now, here are three iterations of the sacred icon.
